Cheap Mondays and Mozzies.

Here I am wearing Cheap Monday high waisted jeans, Rubi Shoes boots, a thrifted leopard print blouse, vintage sunnies and a Sportsgirl bowler hat.
As you can see the water is pretty high and now its way past where I am standing in the above photo. Here is a link to last November's floods, maybe you can see the difference. NB. The weather was super hot and humid but I had to cover up due to the mozzies. The amount of insects is intense, I was nearly too scared to brave it outside!

Hope everyone is enjoying their view, wherever it may be.

Hello My Name Is Puss.

What to do when you are land locked at your home? You get your craft on of course!
Today was another "snow day" for me as all the roads outbound from my house were and are still currently inundated with water. I did attempt to get to work but turned around when the roads got too scary.

So what to craft when you have ALL day open to you? A lovely cat cushions from Pip Lincolne's book "Meek me at Mike's", obviously!. Constructing this beauty took most of the morning but I really underestimated the time it took to stuff the thing. It takes a lot of time. I named her Puss after my real life cat and can't wait to hand the cushion version over to my unsuspecting friend. It is a very, very belated birthday present. Happy Birthday!

PS. Ill post some outfit pics later tonight. I have so much time to blog. AWESOME!

Sepia Sampling

Today I felt like creating. You know when you have this fluttering in your stomach like an instant hit of inspiration. I love that feeling however unfortunately I was at work which doesn't really allow for my kind of creativity. Nevertheless I tried to recreate that inspirational vibe with this modernized old world outfit.
I am sporting a beautiful vintage black with gold thread T, an Equip birdcage necklace (which I got on sale for $5), a Minkpink tie-died mullet dress (this was a sample so I got it really cheap), a vintage black handbag and a red flower worn in my hair.
This crocheted T is a current favourite as it instantly lifts an outfit to another level of awesomeness. It is shear and has this amazing pattern which you can sort of make out. I apologize in advance if you see this number too many times.
Also, the owl on my bed was a gift I made for my sister but she left it at home so it is nesting on my bed for the time being.

What have you been creating? Show me.

Unpredictable Art.

Don't you just love when you look at something like a water stain and it clearly resembles an owl? Does that happen to you when you are gazing at exposed wooden ceilings or laying back watching the clouds? If not get ready to feel enlightened. Below is a picture taken in my bathroom sink, can you not see the lovely little owl? It looks to be crafted using water colour but in reality it just suddenly appeared, like magic. I wonder what other unpredictable art I'll come across in the near future. Keep your eyes peeled people, you never know what random greatness you'll discover.

This outfit is therefore influenced by my imaginary visit to the art gallery in my bathroom. The patterned maxi skirt I found in a local thrift shop, the bowler hat is Sportsgirl and the Maxim singlet I sourced in Bendigo. I feel very swarv and hip in the outfit even though I don't happen to be wearing shoes. Perhaps this makes the ensemble more "down to earth" but then again maybe not.

Don't forget to do as my mirror says and "SEIZE EVERY MOMENT".

Mustard Mayhem.

As you might have noticed I am a major fan of vintage Grandma blazers. I own several and this mustard one with detailed side panels is a recent purchase that is very dear to me. The embroidered pocket flaps are definitely a selling point as they tailor a lovely feminine line. Also, the buttons are a crazy rectangular shape. Awesome! And don't forget about the colour. WOW! This intense mustard will ensure you won't be lost in the crowds.

I started taking these shots in my room but soon migrated to outside my door as the sun was shining through perfectly. I thought it fitted the mood of the shoot and I just adore the shadows, I didn't edit these photos at all. Easy and stress free, gotta love it!
So the rest of the outfit comprises of DIY Levis denim cut-offs, a thrifted floral shirt, Dotti bow headband and Zula heels.
I'm off to a party tomorrow night and I don't know what I am going to wear! Ah the drama of it all! Hopefully I'll come up with something epic!

This weekend feels like time to get creative. Enjoy.

Sparkles and lacey socks

Last night I went out for a birthday dinner with the ladies. We had mexican but not because of the food (it is kinda shit there). We went because of the fishbowl margaritas! I myself didn't have one (no hangover for me!) but they do taste delicious and you get this sick Mexican hat to take home as a souvenir. Awesome!
Basically I wore a vintage sparkly T (one of my fav finds), old faded leggings, a blue vintage jacket sourced in a Melbourne Savers, lace socks from my sister for Christmas, Whittner shiney brogues, an over sized watch from Target, a random black ring and a Sportsgirl necklace. Simple comfortable style. This look says easygoing but quirky at the same time, perfect for a evening of vulgar laughs with the girls.

NB. Sorry about the non existent photos from my awesome time at Pyramid Rock Festival but my camera didn't arrive in the post! Dam you mail man! However I am trying to scrounge up some pics from my mates, hopefully they will be adequate!

All the best for 2011! Make sure you make EVERY moment count!

DIY tights.

Hello all! I apologize for the non existent posts over the last couple of weeks but it couldn't be helped. Put simply my time was spent grieving with my family and friends so I was just too busy.

These photos were taken with the help of my sister a while back (I gave the tripod a day off). The series showcases an outfit I wore to my friends birthday dinner. I am wearing the following; a vintage cream jacket, my Dad's Jimmy Hendrix T, a black mini skirt, Sportsgirl "LOVE" necklace, Zula heels, black socks and my DIY shredded tights.
To make your own pair of ripped punk inspired tights you will need a pair of tights (preferably thin ones with a low denier count) and some sandpaper. The method is quite simple put on the tights and start creating holes and ladders with the sand paper. I used a circular motion to create the circle holes and a downwards sweeping motion to create the ladders. You can shred as little or a lot, depending on your style. TIP you can use your old tights to save some dollars. Happy creating!

I'm off on a road trip tomorrow, hurray! Pyramid Rock festival here I come! I'm very excited as I received a new camera for Christmas and can't wait to snap up the awesome festival fashion. It will be a feast for my eyes.

Hope your NYE plans are coming along nicely.
